Spring is Here! The Benefits of Getting Outside and Walking

Spring brings enthusiasm to get outside and move around.  As the weather improves and we start to see the sun more and more each day, exercising outside such as running or walking has great benefits for our overall physical health.

Walking can also have incredible benefits in terms of foot zoning because there are more nerve endings in the feet than anywhere else in the body.  As you walk, you activate hundred of acupressure points on the feet, including the brain, cranial nerves, heart, lungs, circulatory system, fascial system, and the digestive system.  It also pumps the lymph system.  Other benefits of walking include activation of the meridians and chakras.

While walking can simulate acupressure points through zones on the feet, this physical activity also stimulates circulation throughout the body.  Improved blood circulation leads to cell growth and organ function within the body.  It leads to healthier skin, which can fight off bacteria and infections with a higher success rate.  Better circulation also leads to lower heart rate, relaxed heart muscles, and more stable blood pressure levels.

In addition to your body operating at a higher level, you will also feel better. Walking helps the body to restore homeostasis, which can help relax your body and mind while also improving the quality of sleep.

If you have diabetes, then walking can do wonders for you.  Diabetes can lead to poor circulation which can cause problems in your legs and feet.  Walking improves blood flow to your lower extremities and helps reduce the risk of health issues related to diabetes.

Walking in the sunshine does wonders for your body because sunshine is natures best form of vitamin D and cleanses the chakras, while walking activates the chakras throughout the zones on the feet.  If you’re unfamiliar with the chakra system, it is an ancient way of seeing the body. Chakras are divided into seven different energy centers in the body that correspond to different areas of spiritual, mental, emotional and physical functioning, with each center having an energy that must flow freely. When the chakras are clean and balanced, the whole body is synchronized and we feel energized and whole.

It is believed that energy jammed in one or multiple chakras can lead to illness in the blocked chakra centers of the body. Taking the time to unblock this energy and get it moving using foot zoning or physical exercise like walking can help fix these problems. Improve your mental and physical health by going outside for a walk.  Enjoy the warmth and health benefits of the sun, while exercising and reap the benefits of walking, which is nature’s way of foot zoning.
